Color's relations to emotion

Various colors have various effects on the emotions. Red is a very intense color that draws attention. It send people into states of arousal, fight or flight, and sensitivity. For some it may signify danger;  other, sensuality. We all perceive colors in an emotional way for a reason. We link them to our experiences that create our perception of the world. Blue can be calming for people. It may resemble water to some and be more unsettling. Intensities of colors also affect our emotions. Higher intensities can be overwhelming and turn people away. The temperature of colors has affects as well. Warm colors are fiery and exciting, where as cool colors can be soothing. The link colors to emotions seemed slightly contridicting and complex, but so is the human psychology. People perceive differently because we all have different experiences that shape our psyche. It makes sense that color-emotion concept would be complex as well.

Color context is one of the theories that intrigues me the most because of its use in illusions. I already am interested in psychology, but I really love being able to see art use/affects in psychology. I think color context is the beginning of seeing how combinations of colors produce different attitudes and behaviors. The concept of color in general fascinates me but color context seemed to jump out the most. The amount of research there is based on color shocked me, but it inspired me to enjoy it more and form new connections with color knowing what I know now.

What intrigues me the most is that colors is simply the trick of light in our eyes. It's an illusion our mind creates, yet we are so in tune with color that it can have significant affects on emotions. I can look at a painting and cry or the color of a room can make me feel happy. But in actuality it's the reflection of light.
